Gary McSpadden
Southern Living reported that Gary McSpadden, a country music icon, died April 15, 2016. His talents as a singer were only part of his impressive television career. In addition to co-hosting PTL Today with Jim Bakker, McSpadden had also worked as a pastor at the nondenominational Faith & Wisdom church in Branson, Missouri. Although he is best known for his music, his life and legacy are well worth celebrating.
Kenny Rogers
There was a lot of grief when the news broke about Kenny Rogers's death. He was 81 years old and left behind Wanda, his sons Justin, Chris and Kenny Jr. as well as his sister, two brothers, and his brother. According to country music website, the relatives plan a private service in memory of the deceased. They cite the COVID-19 disease that has decimated large parts of the United States. A public service of condolence will be held at another time.
Dottie West
Dottie was a country music singer who became famous in the 1960s. She recorded her first album in Cleveland with the Kay-Dots and was close friends with Charlie Dick and Patsy Clline. Bill West, Willie Nelson and Roger Miller became good friends through her marriage to Bill West. Dottie West, a songwriter herself, collaborated with many friends and relatives.
Jimmy Capps
Jimmy Capps is a country singer and guitarist who you may have heard of. He was a musician and singer who had a tremendous impact on country songs. He was a member of the Grand Ole Opry more than 50 times. He was also a member of the Nashville A-Team. His music was so well-known that many of the country's most famous stars visited him. His wife started a Facebook page in his honor, JimmyCappsMusiciansHallofFamer.
Rose Lee Maphis
Rose Lee Maphis, who passed away today at age 98, was part of a legendary couple. The couple, Mr.& Mrs. Country Music, were a popular pair on live TV and radio. Joe Maphis and Rose Maphis were the stars of "Town Hall Party", a TV barn dance. Joe and Rose Maphis met in fact when Maphis first arrived on the West Coast. There they fell in love.
K.T. Oslin
K.T. was a long-standing country music star. Oslin was a Nashville favourite in the 80s and 1990s. After a career in the commercial world, he switched to acting and appeared late-night on talk shows. He later deliberately slowed down during the 1990s, but recovered from quadruple bypass surgery in 1995. Oslin battled Parkinson's Disease for many years. He last released an album in 2015.
